This photograph was taken by my dad in 1950s Nottingham, out on the streets late evening, waiting around rather than heading straight home. Like many of his shots, it wasn’t planned—just one of those moments where the light, the street, and the pause all lined up.

A lone figure stands on the corner, half-lit by streetlamps, with buses rolling past and the city stretching out behind him. There’s movement all around, but the feeling is still. That familiar quiet you get in town late at night, when most people have gone and those left are between places, killing time.
