This photograph was taken by my dad in the 1950s at Nottingham bus station, late in the evening, when things had quietened down and most people were just trying to get home. No rush, no crowd—just that familiar end-of-day pause where everything feels a bit slower.
Like many of his photos, this was taken after a few beers, camera out more out of habit than intention. That’s what gives it its honesty. Nothing staged, nothing fussed over—just someone noticing the light, the angle, and the atmosphere before heading off himself.
