This photograph was taken by my dad back in the 1950s, stood on Queens Street in Nottingham, waiting for the bus home. No grand plan, no assignment—just time on his hands, a camera in his coat pocket, and a moment worth stopping for.
What I love about this image is how unforced it is. It’s not trying to show Nottingham at its best or worst—just as it was. Honest, working, slightly gritty, and calm in that way cities get after dark. Shot on film, the grain, contrast and soft blur are all part of the story, not flaws to be fixed.
